Back for more

I see that Jamie McLeod-Skinner wants to run for Congress again in the crazily gerrymandered Fifth District in Oregon. She lost to the Republican, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, 51 to 49, last year.

This time around, JMS will have a couple of new opponents in the primary. So far she's being opposed by a bobblehead from the Legislature, Janelle Bynum; and a bobblehead from the Portland Metro mystery government, Lynn Peterson. A guy named Kevin Easton, identified to me only as a "state employee," dropped out earlier this week.

Can any of these people unseat LCD? I tend to doubt it. Especially if it's a rerun of JMS. Ironically, the best candidate the Dems mght be able to dredge up for that district mght be old Traitor Schrader, the DINO whom McLeod-Skinner successfully primaried last year. He can't be trusted, but if the alternative is an actual card-carrying Republican, well, maybe the Dems would welcome him back.

Trouble is, he's 71 and banking that lobbyist money now, and so he's probably out of the picture. That second Republican seat in Oregon may not be a one-and-done.

  1. I like Bynum. She's been my pick for governor for a while. I believe Peterson is the preferred candidate of the Mean Girls PAC. Bynum is generally pro-business and stays relatively independent; or as much as one can in the legislature.

I'd like to see her take a run at Wyden's seat in a few years.

  2. If JMS runs again, she'll lose again...and the DPO should just give up on OR-5.

    1. She'll probably lose worse the second time, like Carolyn Long up in the 'Couve.

  3. Lynn Peterson is likely Oregon's worst elected official ever. Anyone but Lynn is a good guide for that race.

    1. What makes Lynn Oeterson Oregon’s worstvelected official ever? The competition is fierce: Gordon Shadburne, Dan Mosee, Fred Peterson, Wes Cooley, and in modern times Shemia Fagan and Chloe Eudaly.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
