Pushing in their chips

Here's an interesting story about our neighbor to the south: The governor down there is going to bring the state troopers and the National Guard into San Francisco to fight the fentanyl dealers. Man, we sure could use that kind of action here in Portland as well. Too bad our governor (like her predecessor) acts like the state police and National Guard don't exist.

There's plenty more the guvs could do beyond this, but putting state law enforcement into serious motion against the dealers is an obvious first step. These cities have proven that they are unable or unwillling to protect themselves. We pay plenty in state taxes around here; we deserve some return on those dollars.

Oh, and the San Francisco initiative is reportedly going to include some traffic enforcement by the state cops, too. Lord knows, we could benefit from that around here as well. The maniacal driving in and around Portland is downright frightening. And the local cops couldn't be bothered.

  1. Little known Oregon factoid ... If a county DA won't prosecute a crime, the state's AG office could. But AG Rosenblum would never do that.

  2. I’ve visited San Francisco several times in the last year, and it feels safer and is significantly cleaner than Portland.

  3. Not much will come from this. Newsom is trying to bolster his nomination chances.

    1. Exactly. They know Biden is falling apart fast and might even get a criminal indictment (unlikely), so Newsom is the new golden boy. Pretending to be tough on crime ain't going to fool anybody but those who choose to be fooled.

  4. Good article about San Francisco: https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2022/06/how-san-francisco-became-failed-city/661199/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cr&utm_campaign=The%20Atlantic%20-%20General%20Content%20Promotion&utm_term=The%20Atlantic%20-%20How%20San%20Francisco%20Became%20a%20Failed%20City%20-%20Left&utm_content=The%20Atlantic%20-%20How%20San%20Francisco%20Became%20a%20Failed%20City%20-%20Left&fbclid=IwAR3KMOXB0jifg2HZfswwpLFzR8wNCYuSssrnBNPrbsS9S_GRaIhpp4xghm0

  5. it's the height of irony to me that so much of the lawlessness on NE 33rd occurs right outside the Air National Guard (ANG) parking lot.

  6. Kate Brown & Ted Wheeler allowed violent Antifa/"Black Lives Matter" terrorists to beseige the Federal courthouse and other govt buildings for MONTHS in 2020. Countless counts of arson, felony assaults, felony property crime; all went unpunished. The Portland police only arrested the worst offenders during the riots; leftwing DA Mike Schmidt dismissed over 90% of the charges against these ugly terrorist thugs. Today, we see the consequences: downtown Portland is a wasteland of drugs, violence, & filth. Businesses are forced to shut down, residents flee, shops close down. Good job, progressives! You have KILLED another great American city!

    1. This is largely by design. Critical Theory (School of Frankfurt) is now on steroids. The same people that financed the Bolshevik revolution are bankrolling this one too.

  7. Things are booming here in Lake Oswego.......I have dubbed it the “Escape From Portland” effect.
