Across the finish line

Some good local news, for a change. Three months ago, I wrote enthusiastically about a bill requiring a semester of civics education for an Oregon public or charter high school diploma. I haven't changed my mind at all about the bill, and on Thursday the governor signed it.

The new law doesn't take effect until January of 2026, though. Let's hope that we still have a viable democracy at that point.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
