If you can keep it

A lot of the time, this blog could be subtitled "The World is Going to Hell." Right? But sometimes there are positive things to write about.

For example, I hear that there are a couple of bills circulating in the Oregon Legislature that would require that civics be taught in schools. If the last five years haven't shown you that we need to do better in that regard, I don't know what will. The bill would require that high school students get a full semester learning about our government, and what a democratic republic is.

Granted, this isn't the first time such a requirement has been floated in Salem, but maybe it will get passed on this go-'round. There's a letter people can sign to show support, here. I signed it and felt pretty good doing so.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
