Peacocks plucked
The season is over for my Saint Peter's U. men's basketball team, the mighty Peacocks. They were in a close contest with the Stags of Fairfield this evening, but in the middle of the second half, Fairfield ran up 11 unanswered points and held on. SPU was down 2 with a minute to go but couldn't get that last bucket. The final score was 47-52.
The finals of the Metro Atlantic men's tourney will be Fairfield against Iona. That's the 7 seed against the 9. One of them will go on to the national Division 1 tournament, there to be slaughtered.
Ah, well. The Saint Peter's women (3 seed) are in their final tomorrow against Marist (1 seed). Let's hope the 'Hens can bring the big trophy home to Jersey City.
