In a new light
You have to admire artists who regularly reinvent themselves. I don't mean in a shallow way, although that can be fun to watch. The many different phases of Madonna, or Taylor Swift, or Neil Young come to mind.
But I mean really digging deep and shifting focus – that's something. I wrote a while back about the saxophonist Joe Lovano doing it. Now here comes a new record by Pat Metheny, with Jason Vieaux and the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. Metheny tends to take things apart and put them back together in a different way with each new album.
This new one is acoustic music, what I guess you'd call classical guitar, but not exactly that. Anyway, it is well worth a listen.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
