America for sale

The New York Times continues to show what it found when it turned over rocks looking for Orange Caligula's money. And the findings continue to be horrifying. In the last couple of days, we've seen how much money Donnie makes by peddling influence. You pay by holding events and staying at a Trump hotel

And then there are the mysterious money flows out of the hotels. In one example, $21 million in cash came gliding out of a hotel joint venture in 2016 to a shadowy company known as Trump Las Vegas Sales and Marketing. Right about that time, our dear leader himself pumped $10 million into his first presidential campaign. The joint venture deducted all $21 million as a business expense on its tax return. It did not report any of it as a political contribution.

A friend of mine in the legal world notes that there's nothing uglier than a real estate developer's tax returns. That wisdom has certainly been borne out by the Times series.

  1. I'm fascinated by the selective outrage about corruption at the top. Take the case of Crowdstrike, the company the Dems hired to say the Russians hacked them. Naturally, the company's word was accepted as Gospel by Mueller who knew he couldn't look himself or the case would implode. Later of course Crowdstrike admitted that they never actually had any proof that the Russians had hacked the Dems and turned the emails over to Wikileaks, but so what? I mean what's 3 years of our lives? Now it turns out the whole Russia collusion thing was Hillary's idea and Brennan and Obama knew about it. But I digress. Anyway, I thought it was damn interesting that Nancy Pelosi chose this past week to reveal that she and her husband had recently invested up to a million dollars in.....wait for it....Crowdstrike. Gee, that doesn't stink of a payoff at all. Maybe they could put a bow on it and deliver the money to Crowdstrike at one of Trump's hotels.

    1. I was pretty outraged at the Clintons' corruption. Look where that got us.

  2. This election is between two corrupt candidates neither of whom can afford to lose because they could easily face charges if they're not president. So it's about wanting to win but it's also about fearing to lose.

    1. Replying to Bill M: I’m sorry, but believing an iota of any of that horsepucky requires imagining that Bill Barr, who makes “Maximum John” Mitchell seem like a pillar of ethics, is either completely unaware of said horsepucky or has decided that he should hang back and count on vote suppression to keep him and Orange Caligula in power rather than putting out his evidence before the election.

    2. If Biden were vulnerable to being indicted, it would have happened by now.

  3. Biden was at the meetings when they decided to target General Flynn as a way to go after the Trump administration. It was Biden who suggested using the Logan Act to charge him. Fortunately the recently declassified documents show that Russian collusion plot was phony from the start and Brennan knew it when he took it to Obama. It's been sold as diligent government workers fighting to keep America safe from Russian interference but I would suggest doing a deeper dive into what really happened before characterizing what it really was. Read the Susan Rice email that she sent to herself 2 weeks after the meeting. It remains the single biggest "cover your ass" email in American History to the point of being great comedy - all about how Obama had insisted that everything be done "by the book." They knew they had spied on candidate Trump and much to their chagrin (and surprise) the bastard won anyway. They were now going after the president elect and then later a sitting president. They were plotting to end his presidency. You tell me what that would be? Incidentally the Durham Investigation is now a criminal inquiry with an empaneled grand jury to follow. The Flynn case is in tatters with prosecutorial misconduct on a stunning level. They didn't just withhold evidence. They altered evidence. This was a plot. It's also the part where you accuse me of being a Trump supporter simply because I did the research and you didn't. My candidate was Tulsi Gabbard. Hillary also accused her of being a Russian asset with a handler. It's Hillary's modus operandi. I wish more people would wake up to it. You're missing one of the great political thrillers in American History.

  4. Recently declassified documents: “According to his handwritten notes, former Central Intelligence Agency Director Brennan subsequently briefed President Obama and other senior national security officials on the intelligence, including the ‘alleged approval by Hillary Clinton on July 26, 2016 of a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisors to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by Russian security services.’”
Stirring up a scandal. There you have it. That's how Trump became a Russian secret agent whose handler was Putin himself. It still doesn't explain why an accusation that sounds like a bad episode of "Get Smart" could have hoodwinked so many otherwise intelligent people, except for one thing: Caligula Orange was a bad man so anything that hurt him was not only true but morally righteous. All you had to do to believe it was check your brains at the door.

  5. Trump owes eight figures to Russian mobsters, maybe nine.

Hillary is over. Thank God. Hopefully Chelsea finds some other line of work.

    1. The Russian angle of Trump's business was always oversold to try and strengthen the collusion case. Adam Schiff would talk about Trump getting caught red-handed trying to build a hotel in Moscow like he was fraternizing with the enemy. I believe Schiff's exact phrase for Russia was "our adversary." Everything was tinged with the Red Scare vibe circa 1950s. He didn't bother mentioning that over 1000 American companies do business in Russia including Hilton, Marriott, the Ritz-Carlton, the Sheraton, and many more - even the Holiday Inn. There are 6 Marriott and Courtyard by Marriott hotels in Moscow alone.
I also think this Russian gangster thing has been oversold like it was a Jimmy Cagney movie when world financing is a lot more complicated than that. You don't get into debt with your bookie and have to do his bidding. Trump has been dealing with gangsters for decades - Russian and American alike. The implication that they own him is unsupported by anything I've read. For example, how did Wall Street do back in 2008 when they got in trouble? They sent one of their own - Henry Paulson - to raid the US Treasury and save their asses. Incidentally, when Henry first got the Tarp money he wanted an agreement in writing that he could spend it any way he wanted and he'd never be held accountable for it in court. That's how brazen it was. That was too far even for the corrupt weasels in Washington. To this day nobody knows the exact number in fair market value that it cost to bail out Paulson and his pals. Something like half a trillion is one sum I've seen. Well, that's chump change to the 3 trillion Trump just ran up on the nation's books. You're telling me that with all that money flowing around that Trump couldn't take care of these Russian gangsters whom he owed maybe a billion to? Even the newspapers say the billionaires made over 300 billion during the pandemic crisis. Trump would have never made his way past Paul Castellano and the New York Mafia if he couldn't handle this. This Russian gangster thing is small potatoes.
