Spoke too soon

Remind me never to say anything nice about the Trail Blazers. Yesterday's glowing post about the team's new lineup must have jinxed them. They were blown out in the fourth quarter at home last night, by Memphis. And Ja Morant hurt his hamstring toward the end of the game. Who knows how long he will be out of action? So much for the holy trinity.

Now we have to light a candle and pray that Damian Lillard doesn't pop something, because if he goes down, we're basically back to last year's ho-hum Blazers.

Somebody suggested here yesterday that the better the team plays, the more public money should go into the arena renovation. But if they stink up the league, the less the taxpayers should pay. That would be a cool deal, wouldn't it? But last night, the seat cushions in the luxury suites would have gone from fine Corinthian leather to medium-grade Naugahyde.
