A no-nonsense voters' pamphlet for Portland

Your tax dollars at work.

Our voters' pamphlet arrived this week for the upcoming election. Published by the Oregon Secretary of State, Wally Cox, it's 172 pages long. And as usual, nearly half of it is not useful to somebody who speaks English and has voted before.

Beyond the junk, like the coloring contest, there are pages and pages about races in which I don't have a vote because I don't live in the jurisdiction in question. Plus lots of pages with translations into foreign languages. No Klingon this time, as far as I can tell.

To cut through the clutter, as I've done at least once before, I decided to edit the beast down to what someone actually would want to know if they live in Portland and know where and how to cast a ballot. It is here. If you find it useful, go for it.

Unlike last time, I went ahead and left in the candidates in the many uncontested races. You can decide whether to blacken the circle, leave it blank, or write in James Spagg.

If you haven't received a hard copy of the official version in all its glory, you'll need to go to two different places to see it: here and here.

And readers, please, if I've edited something out that an informed Portlander needs to see, let me know right away in the comments. The goal here is to tell the whole story, but cut out what for many of us is a pile of extraneous crap.

  1. Ha, I'm still half-asleep, I read through that, and then thought
    - wait...what...Wally Cox-?!
You're always cracking-me-up, thanks BoJack, have a great weekend.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog2@gmail.com and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
