Life in the digital age

I see that the chair of the Washington County Commission has lost her job for flipping one of her colleagues the bird. I dunno, it's not something I would ordinarily do in a meeting at work, but I could see it happening if I was really provoked. And come on, this is 2026, a time when civility is pretty much a quaint artifact of the past.

Anyway, I'm archiving the official photo of this life-changing moment for future use. When someone in public life deserves it, I may have to "cue Kathryn Harrington." Or maybe I'll simply give the offending party a Kathryn Award. Like the Oscars. You'll know what I mean.

A.I. enhancement.

  1. I’ve seen and read reports of this in the press and the press has done a good job of covering the WHO, WHAT and WHERE. But, I haven’t heard any good reporting on the WHY.

    1. OPB has the details here. If everyone involved had been of the same race, the aftermath may have gone differently, but that was not the case:

    2. Would the incident have even happened, if the person that Harrington was annoyed with (& then flipped-off) was white-?
There's history with her that probably made this a lot of peoples' last-straw. I'm glad for Staff, they've had to put up with a lot of sh!t from her, for a long time.
The gutless-wonders on the Commission certainly weren't going to stand up for anyone - "Fai paused for a moment to ask if anyone saw the gesture. When no one responded, Harrington continued the previous conversation...".

  4. Ah, the Fickle Finger of Fate award. Can't wait to see you bestow that upon deserving official.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog2@gmail.com and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
