Aunt Chrissy makes some fudge
Over the last nine years, I can't recall a Republican politician in Oregon saying boo about the destruction of our country's institutions, and its position in the world, by Orange Caligula. Now he's openly looting the government, trashing the economy, demolishing public buildings, ranting as a dictator at the U.N., brazenly attacking the press, publicly soiling his diapers, passing out in the middle of events, a new outrage or two every day, and still, you hear nothing from his party but crickets murmuring.
And so I read with amusement the other day gubernatorial candidate Christine Drazan's extremely vague suggestion that well, maybe, just maybe, it might not all be going perfectly. You could barely hear it, but it was there, way late in the report from OPB (an outlet that of course, Dear Leader would also like to destroy):
“I’m asking to lead our state to the benefit of the citizens of this state, period. And there is no doubt that tariffs have harmed our state. There is no doubt that the war in Iran is harming our state today,” Drazan said. “We need to have Oregon’s voices heard. And I can tell you that no matter who is in the White House, I will always stand up for the state.”
Gee, Ms. Drazan, could you spare it?
No one who cares about the country should ever vote for anyone from the Republican Party for anything, ever again. That includes this dolled-up politician and her supposed born-again moderation. MAGA is she and MAGA shall she be unto the ages. Never forget and never forgive.
Kotek is terrible, but she beats the alternative. And in America in the 2020's, the lesser evil is all you get any more.

ReplyDeleteHa ha, her, "born-again moderation" - that's perfect! A politician seeing-the-light, when they start to realize their poll numbers are tanking.
ReplyDeleteWe're getting barraged with their ads on Roku/Tubi, like you were saying about your sports broadcasts, and neither of them actually says-anything in them...Kotek's running on Trump & abortion (but her name is pronounced clearly...), and Drazen is running-on "Kotek's record" (without mentioning her-own record in the Legislature...).
Neither of them brings-up the massive amount of money the other is raising or where it's coming from. Go figure.

ReplyDeleteYou really shouldn’t get your tail in a knot over the republican candidate in next Oregon election. Abe Lincoln wouldn’t get 40% of the vote in Oregon.
Seems to be a load of hysteria about a lame duck who is about to be plucked by a Congress that will have one (or both) houses in the hands of progressive Democrats, salted with socialists. Even if Drazen squeaks into office, her power will be severely limited by the rest of the state government, bureaucrats, and NGOs and immune to any of her vetoes.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I haven't voted for Kotek since before she was Speaker & I lived in her district, when it became clear that climbing the political-career ladder was her only priority (I'm a Dem, an activist who has fought her & her policies for years).
DeleteHaving said that - I think that even I'll be voting for her this time. As you say, we can't risk ending-up with an 'emulator' of Trump here.
If Drazan emulates her hero in the White House, she will be issuing one executive order after another trashing our institutions. Then she will use the federal government as the excuse for her mistakes. A load of hysteria is exactly what's called for. People should not be sitting this one out.
