Outage restored
This blog was down for about 18 hours starting at midday yesterday. According to the overlords at Google, who run the Blogger platform on which I'm writing, their automated police system detected "malware or other malicious content" on the site. When this happens, they pull the plug first and ask questions later.
But today I've been reinstated, which is good. They won't tell me anything about what happened, of course. And so I can only trust that whatever the problem was, has been corrected. If the blog disappears again, you'll know what likely happened.
I am wondering if the issue is connected with some strange traffic on the site lately. Bots from somewhere will come on and click thousands of times in an hour, often focusing on a handful of posts from months or years ago. For all the detail Google's traffic reports provide, they don't give much of a clue as to what that's all about.
Anyway, thanks for your patience and your concern.
Oh that's creepy, about the bots. I wonder if that's because your blog contains political content, and they're seeking-out where they can screw-around with the next election.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a classic, and rather low-intellect, hack. You know you've touched a nerve among the ruling class when they flood your servers and/or toss out your petitions. Yes, the Google platform is "wonky." Time to move to Substack.
