ReplyDeleteSeems like a legit wealth manager wouldn't be the one trying to track down the heirs...But the scammer does get points for a lovely letter, probably educated by the Brits, wherever they actually are.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can use this letter to get a tax write-off, by claiming you had no idea this was a scam and got ripped off. Of course I think you have to have an actual conviction or other proof first...
ReplyDeleteIIRC, for a theft loss deduction, you don't need a conviction, but you do need to prove that a crime was committed.

ReplyDeleteI would be leary of accepting this offering- it may come with unwelcome EU tax consequences. Better to allow the Authority Clearing House to seize the funds.
