And another one gone

Silly me. I'm always surprised at how quickly common sense deserts people once they assume elected office in Portland. Now Olivia Clark, one of the adults elected to the newly configured City Council & Book Club, has decided to become the face card for new taxes for something so basic as street maintenance.

There is so, so, so much waste in Portland city government, particularly in that hideous "transportation" bureau, but rather than take out the garbage, Clark has been convinced by the bureaucrats that new taxes on the city's already overburdened residents are the answer. It's depressing.

How easily the PERS kings and queens brainwash the politicians, even the ones who show up competent. Sometimes I think the bureaucrats put drugs in the water fountains.

  1. I'm glad I don't live in Portland. On the day after this passes, I'm going to fire up my Camry hybrid and drive all over the city and across every bridge over the Willamette at least half a dozen times. All "utility fee" free...

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
