On the road to Findout

My "Everybody Loves Raymond" public records project got a big boost today with a contribution from the blogger known as Isaac Laquedem (pictured). He's fronted the $388 deposit that the City of Greeley, Colorado is charging to produce records relating to Raymond Lee's tenure as city manager there. Lee, who's just been named city manager in Portland at an ungodly pay rate, left Greeley under circumstances that have not been adequately explained. I hope the requested records from his ex-employer will help us Portlanders understand what our mayor is getting us into with the guy.

There will be more charges for the public records, and based on comments received here, I'll be hitting readers up, in due course, for contributions to help me pay them. But for now, everything's full speed ahead. The ball is in Greeley's court, and I've also got a request pending at Portland City Hall for documents that might explain how Lee's $370,000 salary has somehow bloated into total compensation costs of $535,700. There should be some interesting reading there as well. Thanks to Mr. Laquedem for his generous support for these efforts.
