What? No vandalism?

A story on the front page of today's New York Times tells about the many people in Bari, Italy, who resent a plaque, in front of the local cathedral, containing a friendly message from Vladimir Putin. It's next to a statue of the local patron saint, which Putin donated decades ago. The locals have been signing petitions to have the plaque taken down, but the town hasn't done so.

Can you imagine if this were in Portland? Ha! Ha! They're a lot more civilized in Bari.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
