Is it riot season again in Portland?

Whenever there is violent protest anywhere, Portland's far left has to get in on the act. We will not be out-rioted!

I see there was a dust-up downtown the other day. It reportedly started out as 100 Reedies, and it ended up with destroyed glass doors, spray-paint defacement of the World Trade Center, and six arrests. Hmmmmm.... sounds vaguely familiar. I wonder if Dud Wheeler will call for any expulsions. At least put some kids on double secret probation.

Five people were arrested at the scene:

Sienna Otero, 21, of Portland, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree

Eli V. McKenzie, 19, of Portland, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree

Nathan S. Senters, 20, of Portland, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree

Parrish N. Johnson, 19, of Portland, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree

Emily S. Vanderlyn, 33, of Portland, Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree

After police cleared the scene another suspect was seen vandalizing the building. He ran away after being confronted by officers and was arrested after a short chase. The suspect was Troy A. Hunter, 24, of Beaverton, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, Escape in the Third Degree.

The Reed student paper says that four of the arrestees were students there. I assume that would be the first four.

As always, there's the question of whether D.A. Mikey will prosecute anybody. Previously it would have been out of the question, but that was before he was actively running for re-election.

Nah. I doubt that there will be any consequences for the other day. But I sure hope this isn't the start of another drawn-out season of mindless destruction. It's the last thing Portland needs right now.

  1. Activists from Reed have always been tolerated by Portlandia.

  2. Best news of all? People were arrested, and some face serious charges. Would that have happened a year ago? Hard to imagine.

  3. I wondered why all the spelling was correct. Now if it had only been in italic calligraphy I would have been more impressed.

  4. "Free Palestine"? That's exactly what Israel did and then Hamas took over the Gaza strip. That's why there was the Hamas 10/7 massacre of Israelis. "Free Palestine" is a moronic slogan.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
