Grandma arrested at the airport

I'm determined not to get sucked too far into the vortex of the Dan Markel murder case, but since I wrote about it just this morning, I guess I should report that the murder victim's ex-mother-in-law, Donna Adelson, was arrested today

And at the Miami Airport, of all places. Now that her son is facing life in prison, perhaps she thought it was time for a little R&R elsewhere. Instead, she's in a jail across the street from the airport. The charges against her have not yet been made public.

UPDATE, Tuesday morning: She and her husband apparently had tickets to fly to Dubai and then Vietnam. The authorities said she and her son had discussed her fleeing to a country that has no extradition treaty with the United States, or her committing suicide.

  1. I’ve followed this case for years. This is rich and good news. Markel was a good man.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
