IMPORTANT NOTE: This post has been updated to show all picks received by this week's deadline. A few players take a "bye week." As it says in the scriptures: There is no "default" underdog.

Speaking of rules, here's something that's come up, and I have resolved it as follows:

If you choose an early game as your backup 'dog (a Thursday, Saturday, or overseas game), you must also make your primary pick for the week (and any other backup pick) by the kickoff time of the early (or earliest) game.

No one picked the Thurs-'dog as a backup this week. Natterjack Toad did so last week, but also got the primary pick in along with it, before the Thursday kickoff.

Okay, enough housekeeping. Now for some news: It appears that last year's runner-up, Mad Dog, will not be playing this year, and so we will have at least one new face on the medal stand (designating charities) come February.

But in the immortal words of the legendary rock group the Grass Roots, let's live for today. The standings heading into this morning are here. May the Big Daddies come through for our players on this last Sunday of summer!

UPDATE, 1:30 p.m.: Three 'dogs come through for our players in the early going.
