Shoot a guy, get a Starbucks gift card

Sometimes when you read the local news in Portland, you can't believe your eyes. But the crazier the story, the more likely it is to be real.

Here's an eye-popper: Our boy wonder district attorney, Mikey, is letting violent criminals get away with probation, or maybe even walking entirely, if they get mental health and drug treatment.

And when they blow off their court date, the judge may let them off the hook for it, provided they write an essay.

Oh, and there's a fat nonprofit in the picture, too, of course. This is Portland.

I voted for Mikey. I didn't realize I was voting to distort the criminal justice system while he and his judge buddy try to "treat" the violence out of people. I thought that defining crime and punishment was the legislature's job.

But I voted for this. It's was stupid of me. I won't do it again next year, that's for sure.

  1. I forgive you. Now let’s get one of the seasoned DAs who quit to run against him.

  2. You have to like someone who can admit to making a mistake. That’s a rarity these days. Something tells me Mike hasn’t had a close friend or family member become the victim of violence. I’m not wishing that on him, but Portland needs a DA who sends criminals and anarchists to jail.

    1. It's not a crime to be an anarchist. You're confusing politics with criminal acts. It's only when criminal acts are carried out for political purposes that the two intersect. Like on 1/6/21.

    2. I see "End Civ" has entered the chat.

Yep, y'all anarchists are mostly peaceful. You peacefully commit arson, smash windows, and openly advocate the destruction of civilization altogether. Plus you peacefully threaten journalists who try to film your activities and report on them. Pure class. Nice whataboutism tho.

    3. I hate to spoil your fantasy, but I'm not an anarchist. There is plenty of violence on all sides of politics, and lots of peaceful anarchist types, the idiots that commit violence in Portland notwithstanding. You're dumbing down the conversation, is all I was trying to point out.

    5. There is no such thing as a peaceful anarchist. Get your head out.

    6. I mean, Ghandi, for instance? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarcho-pacifism. Labeling people and calling for their arrest based on nothing else is not a good way to do things.

    7. I’ve never met a Portland “anarchist” who wasn’t receiving SSI, food stamps or some other government benefit. They are children with daddy issues.

  3. We can't have criminals showing up for court dates- that costs money we don't have when we are spending it all on "Equity" and "Diversity" training.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
