Portland Old Town news

First, the good news: There was no fatal shooting in Old Town yesterday.

Now the bad news: There was a fatal stabbing on the street there. Fifth and Davis. At 9 a.m.

Marisel Gomez, who works in Old Town at Transition Projects, which provides services to homeless people, said altercations are common in the area. She wasn’t surprised to hear someone had been killed.

“Honestly, I’ve gotten used to it,” she told The Oregonian/OregonLive. “There was a shooting down the street just the other day. It’s hard to wrap your head around, but it’s not surprising.”

  1. It could have been worse. At least no one was stigmatized for their houselessness.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
