The President has nominated Adrienne Nelson to be a federal district judge. She is currently a justice on the Oregon Supreme Court, where she has sat since 2018. Before that, she was a county judge in Multnomah County for a dozen years.

There's a new high school named after her in Happy Valley.

If confirmed to the federal bench, Justice Nelson will be leaving the quiet, cushy world of appeals and heading back into the trenches of motions, trials, and sentencing. But she'll never again have to run for re-election, which on the state court she would have do again two years from now. It looks as though she was already fundraising for that, here.

With a move to the federal court, her salary will go up by, according my amateur calculations, about 40 percent.
