Old people apps

A friend who's a little older yet a lot more tech-savvy than I recommended a couple of iPhone apps that I must say are clever. One is called Seek, which identifies any plant you point your camera toward. The other is called Merlin Bird ID, which identifies any bird by the sound of its song.

When he showed these apps to his daughter, she told my friend, "These are old people apps." Yeah, and?

  1. Seek is pretty cool, since it also does animals. To really drill down on plant id, PlantNet, which uses a sort of crowd sourced method, is quite useful. Haven't tried Merlin yet, but it is pretty neat if it works well.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
