"Homeowner" beef jumps the shark

The nattering nabobs of "all cops are bastards" are doubling down on their curious claim that somehow the Portland police committed a horrible offense by describing the murderer in the Normandale Park protester killing as a "homeowner" rather than a renter, which is what the suspect was. They're demanding an "investigation"! For what? I still don't get it. The O describes what happened pretty well, as far as I can tell:

In the wake of Saturday’s shooting, Portland police published a news release saying an early investigation indicated the incident began “with a confrontation between an armed homeowner and armed protesters” and that their investigation had been made more difficult by witnesses who were reluctant to speak with police.

Was there not a "confrontation"? Were the suspect and at least one of the protesters not "armed"? And so the only inaccuracy was about whether the killer owned property, or instead was a tenant. How can that be a civil rights violation? Because it somehow "humanized" the shooter? Aren't renters also human? Offense culture is rampant these days – young people sometimes seem proud to tell you how offended they are by everything – but only in Portlandia is it so extreme.

The kids at the Merc get to the core of the left-wing beef: "Right-wing activists online immediately spread this statement, jumping to the conclusion that left-wing protesters had attacked a man on his property." That's the cops' fault? And it came from the word "homeowner"? Substitute "area resident" or "park neighbor" for "homeowner." Do you get a different impression? Sorry, no.

But speaking of the real "homeowners" near the park, they now suddenly have a tent camp on their hands, with between five and 15 campers. Homeless people? Black-bloc hipsters making a political statement? Who knows? But now in addition to all the other heartache it attracts, the park is another Portland squatters' paradise. "Homeowner" or not, if you live over that way, keep an eye on your catalytic converter.

  1. Well it looks we have some new “homeowners” in the neighborhood. Think of them as transitory homeowners.......they are still checking things out to make sure that it is a good fit for them. Can’t be too sure nowadays as even though the rent seems good, they are very discriminating and might find the amenities lacking.

  3. I'm tired of tip-toeing over what language I choose to spew from my pie-hole. If you don't like it that's your puny ass problem. And no, I don't give a rip if you have such a thin skin that your hurt feelings bleed all over the place. Get a rag and clean it up, then stuff it in your trap.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
