As expected, the Tina Kotek Memorial Gerrymandering Maps have the Republicans going ballistic. Yesterday a handful of them filed a lawsuit in Marion County court seeking to have the congressional districts thrown out. At the top of their list of alleged atrocities is the crazy new district that extends from Lake Oswego to Bend. But the pinwheeling of Portland into four of the six districts has also got their good Republican cloth panties in a knot.

Granted, those are some weird-looking maps. But I doubt the opposition's complaints will get anywhere.

Oh, I'm sure the judges will do their best to apply the law impartially. But forgive my cyncism, when was the last time you heard of a judge in the Oregon judicial system making waves, much less four of them on the State Supreme Court? You'd have to go back a long time.
