Move along, folks

It took nine and a half months to make it official, but the Clark County cops who killed Kevin Peterson Jr. over a baggie of Xanax pills last year will not be prosecuted. As far as I can tell, they have not been, and will not be, disciplined in any way.

As the official report is quick to point out, Peterson had a handgun on him, and he pointed it at the cops.

But video shows that the deputies' first shot hit him in the back as he was running away. It was only after he hit the ground from being shot that he pointed his gun.

Peterson’s family issued a statement through their attorney, Mark Lindquist, denouncing Robnett’s conclusion.

“We are shocked an officer gets to shoot Kevin in the back because he’s tired of chasing him. And now the two officers who shot at Kevin while he was running are both back at work. This is unfair and unsafe for everyone in the community.”

One of the deputies involved is now dead after another one of these excellent stakeouts.

So here come the civil lawsuit and the cash settlement. (If the case doesn't draw a prejudiced judge, that is.) And that will be that, I guess.
