You've herd of hopeless

What a depressing way to start the week: this story in the New York Times. It says that we'll won't soon reach herd immunity against Covid in this country, and we may never get there. Too many people refuse to be vaccinated. (The map shows prercentages of vaccine-hesitant residents.)

So Covid will always be lurking around. The question then becomes what our lives will look like while we continue to try to dodge it. I can't believe we aren't setting up a reliable, public vaccine registry system to identify who has and hasn't been vaccinated.

Maybe the saddest aspect of this latest news is how damaging the divisions in this county have become. Divided we fall, indeed.
