Portland is falling off a cliff
The gun violence in this city just gets worse and worse. Early this morning a newspaper guy delivering papers in the 4400 block of Northeast Shaver was shot through the windshield of his van. He is seriously wounded but apparently will survive.
It may have been our newspaper guy. I guess we'll find out in the morning.
The shooter was in another vehicle, which drove off after the shot.
Why would someone shoot the paper guy? He carries no money. He drives around slowly, but at 4:00 in the morning, everybody knows who he is and what he's doing. A hard and largely thankless job.
Was it someone who knows him? Or just some random crazy? Either way, this no longer seems like the Portland that I used to love.
