Party on with Killer Kate

Oregon's governor, "Killer" Kate Brown, has decided that people can eat inside restaurants in Portland again. Go to the gym, too.  This is because... because.... well, the situation has changed, you see. The difference is that now... now... now, it's...

Okay, there doesn't seem to be any difference, except that she wants to say she opened something, I guess.

Covid cases in Oregon have been declining, but they're still plenty high. And the new, worse, more contagious variants are definitely arriving here. So now is when the Guv picks to reopen the dining rooms?

It's kind of like her crazy tradeoff to snub the old people and give teachers The Precious so that the schools can reopen again. It's a dangerous pipedream. Even the White House is backing off its promise to reopen schools in the first 100 days of the administration.

As the scientists have said from the beginning: The virus makes the timeline. We hope vaccines will change that in the end, but we're a long, long way from being in control.

But hey, go to a restaurant. Live it up. Try the halibut. Bon appetit.
