Know your rights

Orange Caligula has a right to be represented by lawyers, and his lawyers have a right to raise any nonfrivolous claims he wants to pursue in court.

But by the same token, corporate America, wealthy America, everyone has the right to hire whichever lawyers they choose and can afford.

Given all the absurd election litigation being filed around the country on behalf of the President by the Jones Day law firm, I'd be sure to exercise my right never to hire that firm for anything, ever again.

  1. Another front for Trump's lawyers is going to be if the Biden administration tries to stick him in prison. I've seen articles to that effect. Disregarding the old stuff - the fraud around his building business - what would the charges be beginning with the 2016 campaign? Rachel Maddow loves saying Trump committed the same crimes as Michael Cohen got sent to prison for, but as I understand it, Michael made a plea deal based in part on a bunch of other things they had him on. Then there's the payoffs to Stormy Daniels which were described as an illegal campaign contribution. The left called this election fraud because he hid a secret from the voters. Is that really the standard: If a candidate hides a secret from the voters it amounts to election fraud? The obvious area is obstruction of justice in the Mueller investigation - a process crime. But wait, this is a modern day Hitler. This is a guy reported to have killed thousands. What would those charges look like? I mean George W lied us into the Iraq War with the doctrine of preemptive strikes. He killed hundreds of thousands based on the false premise that it was revenge for 9/11. Nothing happened to him. Cheney's bust is in the Capitol Rotunda. Earlier in this term the answer would have been obvious: Trump was a Russian secret agent working for Putin, but that charge dropped out of sight and wasn't even mentioned at the Democratic Convention. The people who swear Trump is the worst thing that ever happened seemed quite sure of themselves so what would you charge the Orange Caligula with? Having the wrong color skin?

    1. Wait a second. We're talking about one of the worst tyrants who ever lived. Is it recent tax stuff? This is someone who donates his annual presidential salary of 400 grand back to the government. Sure, you go back into his building days and I'm sure there are tax shenanigans that amount to bank fraud on loans and God knows what. I'll give you that. But for 4 years we've been told this is a man who was an illegitimate president because he colluded with Russia. He was a secret agent whose handler was Putin himself. He was a white supremacist who must have killed thousands of black people. He didn't tell people to wear masks even though they've been wearing masks for pandemics since the Spanish flu and nobody could ever figure that out on their own.
I thought we would have a flood of charges. All you have is old tax evasion stuff? Did I mention George W. killed hundreds of thousands of people? Oh yeah, Trump also paid money to a porn star to hide having sex with her, even though if she didn't get paid for sex she couldn't be a porn star. You're right...this is serious stuff. Thank God Hitler didn't think of that.

    2. I would bet Trump's 2019 tax return has fraud in it. I would bet Trump is filing fraudulent financial statements with banks this week. Maybe Bill Barr will investigate.

Letitia James is going to kick his ass so, so very badly. Then there's Ghislaine, hope she's okay.

    3. Maybe Hitler cheated on his financial papers too but we didn't have to wonder what his crimes were.

    4. Are you still getting paid by the joke for these posts about Trump?

    5. No, I'm retired from the game. It's like most things...you have to keep at it to get the flow going. Frankly, my joke about New Jersey's ballots listing the Vice President as the Underboss was the first time since Jack started up with this again that I felt like I was back in the groove. What I really owe Jack Bog's Blog is an opportunity to write mini-essays. Now they just come out - for better or worse - in one smooth shot. What disappoints me this time is the lack of other comment writers. I wish there were more like you, Walker. Last time around it was the golden age of blogs and it was livelier. Of course this time around we have one of the truly historic years in American History so it's pretty cool. And presiding over everything is Jack. The way he combines journalism with his own spirit is downright great. And when you're reading an opinion about financial stuff, he's untouchable. If you were to go to a big office downtown and hire an expert to analyze the news for you, you'd be paying many, many thousands of dollars and Jack is doing it as a community service for free. That's to be commended.

    2. I believe that's the Letitia James reference. And keep in mind that Trump won't be able to make a slick pardon deal that covers state crimes so if they want him, he'll be there. I just wonder if his detractors will still have the same rage once he's out. It seemed quite phony to me - like a narrative that was sold to a gullible mob. Personally watching my fellow progressives let Trump drive them batty has been deeply embarrassing. Anyone who bought that he was a Russian secret agent has experienced a cognitive failure. The zeal has something to do with identity politics where a mob is empowered to go after someone in a quasi-religious rage of virtue signaling. Okay, fine but what about the selective outrage? Have you ever read a deep history of the Bush family? How could you get apoplectic by what Trump has done and let George W and his family slide?
Along the way through all this I've acquired a few favorite little details. I'll present one here that's not directly related to Trump's charges but shows the level of morality we have in Washington. One of the shady deals Hunter Biden was working on with China seemed a little off. It's called the Rosneft deal and people wondered why the FBI wasn't pursuing charges on it. Well, it turns out the lawyer on the deal was Christopher Wray - the current head of the FBI. Isn't that special?
But don't get me wrong. The People have spoken. This isn't a few intelligence agencies deciding a duly elected president was unfit and had to be removed. Once the People decide and you get the sanctity of an election - no matter if it's crooked or not - it's a different matter. So we're at the part of the movie where the townspeople have the monster cornered and they're closing in to tear him to bits. Why? Because he lied on his taxes? It seems phony to me. But he's the monster. He did horrible things like defrauding some banks in real estate loans. If he was so horrible, surely you have something more than that? It's embarrassing.
By the way, I'm starting to think Hunter Biden should be the next Secretary of Treasury. Anyone who could get that much money out of foreign countries while smoking crack, should be in charge of our Treasury. Hunter Biden is a financial wizard.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
