A shot in the arm

Sometimes as a professional writer, I wonder whether anybody out there is reading the stuff I churn out. Royalty checks confirm that someone is paying for access to it, but are they actually reading it?

But then about every other year, a court opinion or brief cites one of the books. I have a robot that searches for these things, and when it alerts me, it always puts a smile on my face.

Last night the robot let me know that not only did the U.S. Tax Court cite me yesterday, it quoted me!

That kind of thing puts a little extra spring in my step, I must say. It never gets old.
