Done deal

I hereby join the millions of Americans who (a) have voted and (b) feel the need to tell you about it.

It was pretty uneventful. Our mailman picked up our ballots at our house yesterday around midday. As you can see, they were delivered within 24 hours, and accepted within less than 28 hours, of leaving our porch. And we no longer needed to buy stamps – the state (or maybe it's the county) pays the Post Office.

The word on the internet is that it's too late to rely on the mail to deliver your ballot. To be honest, that's probably not true if you're in Portland. Today or tomorrow should be fine. But given all the courtroom crap the Trump people are going to pull with the mechanics of the vote-counting, don't take any unnecessary chances in getting your ballot to the election people where you are right away.

The map of the official drop boxes in Multnomah County is here. Some locations (like the one we used for 20 years until this year) have changed. If you really want to go straight to the horse's mouth, election headquarters is at 1040 SE Morrison Street. That's Morrison and 11th, in Southeast.

The sun is out and the sky is blue. Do it!
