Portraits of the artist as a young man
If you're as intrigued as I am about the late John Clem Clarke, the Oregon native who went on to become an important figure in Pop Art in the Big Apple, you might get a kick out of all these photos of his time as a young dude in Oregon. They are compiled by the Salem Statesman-Journal.
John was not only a trend setting artist but also a great athlete. He accepted a ride to OSC but later transferred to Uof O. He went to the Rose Bowl with the Beavers but his senior year was a member of Len Casonova's Duck squad that went to thee Rose Bowl. A really talented and funny guy in the late 1950's.
